French Postal Service La Poste Launching NFT Postal Stamps On The Tezos Blockchain In Q1 2023

MARKET_WATCH Blockchain

La Poste, the French postal service, will launch NFT Postal Stamps on the Tezos blockchain in Q1 2023. La Poste is the French Postal Service operating in France, Monaco and the overseas collectivity of Saint Pierre and Miquelon.

La Poste is partially owned by the French state, has around 250,000 employees and a yearly revenue of over 34 billion Euro. Next year, part of that revenue will be income that is generated through Tezos-based NFTs.  According to Le Monde, the number one newspaper in France, La Poste has announced that 100,000 copies of NFT-linked physical postal stamps will be launched on February 7th 2023. La Poste is preparing to launch “physical” stamps associated with their duplicates registered in the Tezos blockchain.  The stamp collection is expected to be a collector’s item with NFT technology as an authentication guarantee.

The NFT itself will also include edition info, which will specify for example, if the edition is a “first-day” edition (purchased at the day of the collection launch). Le Monde stated (translated with Google): “The principle is to “associate a physical stamp with its duplicate recorded in a blockchain for its NFT authentication, in this case the Tezos blockchain. In such a way that a numbering makes “each stamp unique.” The stamp will be bearing the image of Nelson Mandela, the work of C215 1918-2013), created by Christian Guémy, also known as C215.

The stamp was presented last month in presence of Christian Guémy, Gilles Livchitz, from Tebogo Seokolo, South African Ambassador to France, from Selen Daver, project manager for monitoring presidential commitments for Africa, representing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the French Republic.
